Privacy Policy
Moment ("we," "our," or "us") is a daily journaling app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account using Apple Sign In or Google, we receive your email address and a unique identifier from the authentication provider. We do not receive or store your password.
Journal Entries
Each entry you create includes:
- Text you write (up to 320 characters)
- A photo you capture with your device camera
- The date and time the entry was created
Location
With your permission, we collect your approximate location (city-level only) when you save an entry. This is used solely to tag your entry with a city name. We do not track your location in the background or store precise coordinates.
Push Notification Token
With your permission, we store a device token to send you one daily notification at a random time. We do not send marketing or promotional notifications.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the app experience: storing and displaying your journal entries, generating weekly and monthly summaries of your writing.
- Anonymous sharing: if you choose to share a moment, your entry text, photo, and city name may be shown to one other random user. Your name, email, and account details are never shared. This is entirely opt-in.
- Summaries: we use OpenAI to generate weekly and monthly summaries of your journal entries. Only your entry text is sent to OpenAI for this purpose, with no personally identifying information attached.
- Notifications: to send your daily moment reminder.
Data Storage
Your data is stored on Supabase, which uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Photos are stored in Supabase Storage. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
Third-Party Services
- Supabase: backend database, authentication, and file storage
- Apple / Google: authentication only
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: reverse geocoding (converts your coordinates to a city name; coordinates are not stored)
- OpenAI: generates text summaries of your entries
- Expo: push notification delivery
We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes all your data including entries, photos, summaries, and your profile.
Your Rights
- Access: view all your entries and summaries within the app
- Delete: delete your entire account and all associated data from Settings
- Notifications: enable or disable notifications at any time from Settings
- Location: revoke location permission at any time through your device settings
Children's Privacy
Moment is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the date at the top of this page.
